Up and Away
Balloons, including this one with the elephant, were floating over our house the other day.
A few years ago we went up in one of these; a popular thing to do in our area. It was a lovely ride, but most memorable was the landing. You see, unfortunately our balloon landed in a farmer's field... the basket got dragged through the crops, then flipped over with me and hubby ending up eating dirt! The farmer was none too pleased either, but we managed to appease him with a crate of beer!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Wow what an experience. Know what? I've always been sooooo afraid of heights. How was the view from the top? Must've been scary to do a little crash landing. Did you guys get bruised up?
ReplyDeleteYou are certainly more brave than I my friend. Great story1
ReplyDeleteAwesome story - I've always wanted to go up in one of those. There's a small airport a couple of miles from our house (nothing loud enough to be annoying), and some of the pilots offer to fly over your house - we're going to try that when our son is a little older.
ReplyDeleteOh, my God! That landing sounds scary. I'm surprising my husband with a balloon ride in October; being terrified of heights, I'm not sure I'm going to do it with him.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like fun. My dad was a pilot and he used to always say no landing is a bad landing if you can walk away from it :) Glad the farmer could be bought off with the beer.
ReplyDeleteI like the elephant balloon! I've only been up in one when it was tethered but would love to ride in one. I agree with Ann, no landing is bad if you can walk away - plus if there's beer involved afterwards!
ReplyDeleteYou have done that?
ReplyDeleteOh, that seems to be so great, even with such a landing.
I would love to do that one day, but with a better landing. :-D Glad you guys were okay!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can ride a balloon. I'm afraid of heights.

We have them over our house as well and I've always wanted to go for ride, something hubby can't understand as I'm not terribly keen on heights admittedly. Just seems so lovely! Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteEvery year the balloons would lift off in the field behind my first house. It was always so much fun to listen for that sound and then see them rising in the air.
ReplyDeleteYour balloon landing sounds frightening and funny at the same time! lol!! Glad you were okay!
ReplyDeleteThat could have ended very badly. I'm glad you are both okay. Those balloon rides are fun, though.
ReplyDeleteWow! Your experience was fun. I had always wanted to see and have a balloon ride. We kept missing it in two years. I hope we can do it this year.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day, Duni. :)
I hope you didn't get hurt too badly. Were you scared at the time? I've always wanted to try this, but I'm afraid I'd get sick and throw up. Tehehe.

I would love to get in one of those... but just recently discovered I'm afraid of heights... ♥
