Handmade Xmas Stockings
Hi there!
with St. Nicholas Day only three days away I made some festive stockings for a change (traditionally kids put out their shoes, but we don't have any - kids, that is)! So I made these for us grown-ups, because I quite like this tradition of giving small gifts and have decided to uphold it. It's so much fun and between you and me I'm actually more excited about this day than Christmas! I have fond memories of me as a child waking up early on the 6th, quietly sneaking to the door and then - surprise - finding my shoe miraculously filled with yummy sweets and chocolates!
These days, with our food-allergies and various intolerances, our stocking fillers won't be sweets of any kind... but rather goodies of another sort, handmade and most definitely useful. Oh, what fun!!!

Those are super cute! I love how chunky they are- the better for the filling! I agree- I quite love the idea of the stocking and Christmas just isn't Christmas without it. Been working on filling Mike's:) In the States we usually put them out for Christmas morning too...hadn't heard of putting them out on the 6th...interesting, and I like it! Enjoy your little handmade gifts:)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice St Nicholas Day Duni!
ReplyDeleteSince my son was born on the 6th I make the effort to fill the shoes though I think they are still too small to understand why there are treats in shoes:) I managed to make two stockings; I have sourly been lacking in getting the other two completed so my husband went and bought two just in case!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat cute stockings those are. I think some times the little gifts you find in the stocking are more fun than the big ones under the tree
ReplyDeleteHow cute!!! These are lovely.
ReplyDeleteIs St. Nicholas Day native to your country only on the 6th? Do you celebrate Christmas as well on the 25th like most Americans? Just curious! The stockings are great. My wife has made a few in her time and she is very talented just like you. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDelete@Nancy - I created the 'tradition' of putting them out on the 6th, because we don't originally have stockings over here! But I like them so much!
ReplyDelete@Eddie - thanks for stopping by and your kind comment! We celebrate Christmas on the 24th! And small gifts on the 6th - hence the stocking :)
I'd never heard of kids putting out their shoes - how cute!!! I think your stocking idea/tradition is wonderful and course they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable, I love them!
ReplyDeleteHi Duni! Miss you so much...miss all my blogging friends! Been so busy over here between working and shoveling snow :)
ReplyDeleteFully prepared to fill the kids' shoes tonight. However, too bad I didn't see these stockings earlier and purchase one from you. I don't want to know what is going to happen to the fruit in my sons shoes (ewwwww)!
Such cute stockings! Hope you had a great day :)
ReplyDeleteAww I love these! Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteNothing like some homemade chrissy goodies that can be handed down to generations!
xx tash
